Tour itinerary
Welcome to San Carlos de Bariloche, or Bariloche as it’s also known. As you arrive you could be forgiven for thinking you have arrived somewhere in the Bavarian or Swiss Alps.
Bariloche is situated on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi and surrounded by the national park of the same name. The architecture of this area also has a strong European influence due to German settlers arriving here from neighbouring Chile in the 1840’s. With streets dotted by chocolate shops and friendly Saint Bernard’s welcoming you to the town’s main square, Centro Civico, you’re sure to enjoy your visit. Today is an arrival day and you are free to explore at your leisure.
Today you will uncover some of Bariloche’s most breathtaking natural highlights. Your first highlight will be boarding a chairlift to the top of Cerro Campanario. From the top, you will enjoy spectacular views of the city below as well as Lake Nahuel Huapi, the snow-capped Andes and the region. From there, you will visit the Llao Llao Hotel. This exclusive resort is located between Lake Nahuel Huapi and Lake Moreno and framed by the peaks of Cerro Lopez, Cerro Capilla and Cerro Tronador. Here, you will take a one hour nature walk through Parque Municipal Llao Llao with your guide who will provide information about the rich history and natural sites of the region.
Enjoy a half day boat excursion from Lopez Bay on Lake Nahuel Huapi and the Tristeza Sound. On a sunny day there are views from the boat to Cerro Tronador. On reaching the Tristeza branch of the river, you will disembark to hike a forest trail to the Arroyo Frey Waterfall. Along the way, be amazed by the dense forest of the Coihue and towering Alerches trees. Returning to Bariloche, you will enjoy lunch on board the boat.
You will be collected from your hotel at the appropriate time and transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
