ETA’s required to enter UK from 8 Jan 2025

New Zealanders and other non Europeans can now apply in advance for an Electronic Travel Authorisation “ETA”, which they will need to travel to the UK from 08 Jan 2025.

New Zealand passport holders can apply for their ETA through the UK ETA app or via GOV.UK, with it costing around GBP10 ($21.50) and allowing for multiple journeys over a two-year period.

Once granted, the ETA will be digitally linked to your passport and allow for stays of up to six months at a time.

The UK Government has plans to roll out the ETA to eligible Europeans, who will be able to apply from 05 Mar for travel to the UK from 02 Apr. From this date, all
visitors to the UK who do not need a visa for short stays and who do not already have a UK immigration status will need an ETA.
